Robotics has had a busy weekend—-On Friday, the students volunteered at SEMO Pets - making pet print ornaments. The students had a great time and helped the workers accomplish their goal of an ornament for each pet.
On Saturday, we traveled to Poplar Bluff for our second robotics competition. The students took 2nd place! We look forward to our next competition this coming Saturday!
UPDATE: December 9, 2024 - The City of Cape Girardeau has informed us that the water main has been fixed. We will still be under a precautionary boil water advisory on Tuesday.
We have delivered bottled water to the buildings for drinking water and will continue to follow the recommended precautions provided by the City for breakfast and lunch preparation on Tuesday.

Good morning. The City of Cape Girardeau just issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the City due to a large water main break near the Cape Rock Water Plant.
We wanted to let families know that we have closed the drinking fountains throughout the District and are in the process of delivering bottled water for drinking water.
Our nutrition services staff members will follow the recommended precautions provided by the City for lunch preparation today.
Additionally, the water main break may change a couple of our bus routes until it is fixed. Please be patient with us if buses are running a few minutes behind this afternoon.

Haneef Ahmad, the CHS FBLA president, recently attended the Chamber of Commerce First Friday Coffee held at the Casino Event Center.
Join us for the Grand Opening of the new Cape Central Academy! We will host a Ribbon Cutting with the Cape Chamber on December 3rd at 6:00 p.m. Come tour the building and stick around to hear presentations about the various educational opportunities available for students in our school district based on their individual needs. Refreshments will be served.
We are hosting free developmental screenings on November 15th for children who reside in the Cape Girardeau Public Schools attendance zone ages 12 months to 5 years (and who have not entered kindergarten). Aimee Caldwell has been accepted into the Missouri All-State Sight Singing Bee for 2025. Students must obtain a perfect score on the theory and sight reading portion of their all-district audition to earn a spot. Aimee is the fifth student in CHS history to be honored with this distinction. Congratulations, Aimee!

Congratulations to the CHS Cheer Team on its 2nd-place finish at the Missouri State Cheerleading Competition in Columbia! Adeline Cook was also named All-State in Jumps. Way to go, Tigers! We are proud of you!
Cape Central High's Emily Marriott qualified for the Class 4 State Cross Country Meet after a 13th-place finish at Districts. Emily will run at Gans Creek in Columbia on Saturday, November 9th.
Ms. Mayberry’s class made models with M&Ms to identify the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in atom.
On Saturday November 2nd the NAACP awarded Ms. Nita Dubose, counselor at Cape Central High School, the Dr. Spicer Excellence in Education Award for all her work helping students be successful. She was a long time teacher before becoming a counselor. She is also one of the sponsors of Student Senate. Students can count her her to always be there to help them and do her very best for each of them. Congratulations Ms. Dubose, very much deserved!
Congratulations to the Cape Central Cheer team that took 2nd place in State in Class 4A Small! Also congratulations to Addi Cook who won All State in Jumps!
Mrs. Fuehne's Art 1 class has been studying Prehistoric art the past couple of weeks. The students have made cave art and masks for Paleolithic and Neolithic periods. In the picture below, the students are making mummies for Ancient Egyptian period. Come look at the art display at the end of C South hallway.
On Thursday, Mrs. Strothman took over 60 juniors and seniors to Southeast Missouri State University for a tour and their big college fair. Students reported it was a great learning experience and they had the opportunity to speak to representatives from schools they were considering and a few they had not thought about.
Mr. Essner’s Earth Science class has been testing minerals for Mineral Identifications.
Thursday evening the CHS Choirs performed their fall concert and introduced those who made District Choir. Congratulations to all!
Every year members of our special education department organize a prom for our functional kids along with kids from Jackson and Perryville. The money we raise will help to make it the best night possible for them.
All items will be delivered straight to your house in time for the holidays.
