Employees at Cape Girardeau Public Schools (CGPS) will now enjoy a number of benefits at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) thanks to a new, exclusive educational partnership. CGPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Benyon and SEMO President Dr. Carlos Vargas signed the agreement at a press conference held at the District's Board of Education Office.
"We approached SEMO about a partnership because we believe deeply in the quality of the University's educational offerings," said Dr. Benyon. "We want to find ways to encourage our staff members to continue their education. Through this partnership, we can lower the cost of coursework at SEMO and offer other life-enhancing experiences at the University to staff members and their families."
“SEMO values its partnerships with our local school districts immensely for the work they do in preparing students for their futures,” said SEMO President Dr. Carlos Vargas. “We are pleased to build a community of lifelong learners and serve as the exclusive partner for the employees of Cape Public Schools to further their own education.
All CGPS staff members will enjoy:
A 20% tuition discount to online programming for undergraduate and graduate programs offered by SEMO or the undergraduate pathway for paraprofessionals
CGPS employees and their spouse/partner are eligible for a Student Recreation Center membership at the University's affiliate rate.
CGPS employees can receive discounted tickets on events produced by the University and SEMO athletic events
